Louis B. Mayer, one of the founders of MGM Studios, made his first fortune from the profits of "The Birth of a Nation". Mayer acquired the exclusive screening rights for the film in New England and used the earnings to build his wealth, which eventually led to the establishment of MGM Studios.

Could it be that young Louis was a cut-out, using film distribution "proceeds" to "bootstrap" a media empire? It makes one wonder who bought all those "tickets." 🤔 Young JP Morgan, perhaps? (guessing).

A theater chain is a great place to launder money, may be even better than a giant hotel. Louis may not of been a made man but he sure had to work with them to run his studio.

LOL, I had to look him up and this is the first thing: Jan 13, 2014 · Horatio Alger, the author of rags-to-riches stories, was kicked out of his Cape Cod church for sexual misconduct with boys.
