Excellent article on Neurolinguistic Programing (NLP) and Slight of Mouth. Will definitely watch the noted SOM video.

My general reactions to videos like the Melissa Chen one analyzed, before getting your graduate course in NLP, would have been to view her comments about reading people's minds, either on the left or the right, as pure "Hubris", one of man's greatest weaknesses. My Daddy taught me at very early age, it is though enough to know your own mind, don't kid yourself to think you can know others. Which Chen claims to be able to do in the extreme. Your NLP tools help excellently layout her verbal hypocrisy. The Druids believed there was magic in words. Sometimes it is black magic. Thanks for the defensive tools.

You're very welcome. Good fathers are a great advantage in life. "Mind-reading" can also be thought of as a "presupposition." That is, someone pre-supposes what someone else is thinking.

I tend to view these types of arguments through the rhetorical lens as it’s quick.

Line 1: sets up the dialectic. Immediate red flag. Forced choice incoming…

Line 2: Ethos. Appeal to authority. Teacher mode. Red flag.

Next the dodgy logos, incorporating pathos , left is emotional and brainless but the right is cold and calculating. Amygdala you say, nice attempt at Pathos. Only a very clever person would know such a thing.

I’ve no idea who this person is but it sounds like she’s trying to muster a defence of the “left” in the sense that by nature they can’t help protesting for the underdog as it’s their reason d’etre. So if they are considered anti semitic they don’t realise it.

It’s a sad reflection on US free speech all said and done. You have to laugh at the pantomime when Vance comes to Europe and lectures us on free speech.

All the world’s a stage…

This puts the "schismogenesis" term in plain view, as well as revealing Ms Chen among the many unwitting (?) assistants to the ruling class, sewing divisiveness among the proletariat in order to distract them from their true enemy.

As far as "anti-Semitism" goes, I am reminded of the pre-MMA, pre-TV, pre-podcast Joe Rogan, when he was just a comedian, who remarked "take an Israeli and a Palestinian to Banana Republic, dress them in the same clothes, then tell me which is which."

Of course, he also compared Osama Bin Laden to a comic book villain who "always disappears from the scene of a crime but leaves an incriminating tape". Old Rogan was truly hilarious.
